I had visited this wilderness park about one year before, having went with 2 friends who originally discovered the park. I had recently purchased a Konica Dimage Z6 and wanted to try it out somewhere with plenty of scenery. I hoped to get a few wild animals as well. This journey was a solitary one and what I had with me consisted mainly of one water bottle and the camera and case. It was a very hot summer day but having it rain would have helped with taking pictures. This first picture depicts the main walk in entrance and just beyond is a welcome center, commonly called an Interpretive center and has with-in it, maps of the area, a large Snake exhibit, general park information and air conditioning. I acquired a Map and later was glad I did. The Nature Center offers a trail hike possibility of at least 20 miles. [...] |

Once inside the Interpretive Center one can find plenty of information pertaining to the Center. I took a few photos of an aquarium. The turtles and fish were doing what they do best. Since I was new in using my Z6 I wasn't sure if it could take such a picture as this one. Using a flash would have surely been a mistake. I tried 2 pictures with out it and was some surprised that these came out as well as these did. [...] |

Stepping outside I opened my map and was has a choice to make. Before me was two obvious ways to head out. Lafe and right. Or for the truly adventurous, one could just head straight into the woods ahead. I choose the left trail and soon saw a lake area in the distance. Later I was to see a good deal more of it. Marshes and wild birds were to be found much deeper with-in the park. [...] |

Continuing along the westerly trail I came across a nice viewpoint. I could imagine sitting here for a while on a cooler day and enjoying the view. From a photographic standpoint this is one of the first pictures I managed to get that caused me to consider getting a single picture made into a poster. [...] |
